Curves and Light

Tuberoses - Glow
6"x6" acrylic on hardboard panel
collection of Joanne Kinney

Dramatic, strange, wonderfully sweet-scented flowers that I get from the local farmer's market on a regular basis mid summer through, well... fall. Love the way they make the house smell, and they have the most fascinating shape, one that I had been afraid to try until tonight.
But isolating one stem in a small format made the subject less intimdating, if no less graceful, and you may not be able to see it, but I got a couple of books on Andrew Wyeth this weekend, and I think it's starting to show- focusing even more on the light, yes, but using more of those small, cross hatch strokes with the little bitty brushes and pure colors, set against the usual layered washes. It's nice :)
