Stripes

5"x7"

Just because shells. It's a tricky one though, because of the change in values with the stripes! Painting the stripes themselves, and then painting the light over them was my solution- I figured that was what I was seeing happen and I could follow the process!

The Shard

5"x7"

I found a small piece of a wonderfully shiny shell at the beach, and had to try painting it! I always learn so much from a painting like this.

Walking Onions

My walking onions are blooming and staggering around the front yard, and I had to bring one in to paint. They don't even look real, but are so much fun.

Kestrel Chick

5"x7"

Recently I got to meet a clutch of three kestrel chicks, about three weeks old. Almost fledglings really, and absolutely adorable, like a big scary falcon had a baby with a dandelion poof.

Pineapple

sold

When I'm stomping around and have no idea what to paint, and end up in the kitchen whining to myself about it, well.... there was a pineapple. I rather like it.

Berry Season

5"x7"
sold

Apparently my camera really loves cerulean, I could not get an accurate picture for anything- the blue in question is actually much darker. Gr. Having to make explanations like that takes the edge off my "oh my goodness this is so cute everyone come love it!"

Glass Bottle

You should definitely expect to see this bottle again in the future. Most likely containing tiny magical creatures of some kind.

Evening Tea

It's chilly today. Painting something warm was the only reasonable response.

Gentleman Cluck

Oh this little dude is just delightful. I may have gotten a bit carried away with the details, honestly.

Unicorn Skull: Late Spring

14"x18"
sold

Just something beautiful for the sake of being beautiful. I've been enjoying the still life dailies lately, and wanted to a larger one- one of my unicorn skulls, an iris from the garden, and a few strawberries from the farmers market.

Unfurling

5"x7"

The next iris bud is unfurling beautifully now. I love the contrast between the purples and the yellows....
