Another study of one of William Merritt Chase's portraits. I love working off things like this- I learn so much. All sort of little details, the shadowy crinkles in the most unexpected places, the relaxed angles of her body. I'm content tonight. And I need to get to bed- Mark is fast asleep on the couch, waiting for me to finish up with this :) You guys have a good night!

I am presently copying an Edward Hopper. I should do more of that, copying the masters thing as it's such a learning experience.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I really enjoy Hopper, he was great with compositions and captured such a wonderful stillness in his pieces, but I don't think I've ever tried to copy one of his pieces- it is definately a learning experience for me, too. I'll have to try him soon.
