Yep, definitely trying to bring summer back.

It's curious, what caught my eye was the shapes her arms make, and the way her hair is being held down just a little by the string of beads. After I got her up on etsy I realized that a woman with mardi gras beads, especially one adjusting the hem of her shirt, could be interpreted a number of ways....

And then this is after I succumbed to temptation and ate half of it. You would have laughed at me, trying to tear this beauty in half without smooshing it too much, I really didn't want to damage the wonderfully fluffiness of the interior, that was my whole idea for the painting!

Ok, and the gooey chocolate inside might have played a part. But only as a visual contrast.

Yeah, I don't believe me either.

Interesting story with this one! I did it a couple years ago, and someone recently contacted me, just to say how much she'd loved it when I shared it. *does happy dance* It's been hanging in my kitchen the whole time, and when I mentioned that she just had to have it, and so now my little dead birdie is off to a wonderful new home :)

And that made me want to do another one, just to see what I'll do now with the same subject. Can't wait!

Her hair was bothering me, so I went back in to fix it.... and ended up changing the entire background, and punching up the contrast in her hands, and giving her more of a glow and some more turquoise coloring :) Paintings really aren't ever "done."

I know all us crazy artists paint our kids, and totally lurve the paintings, because of course our kids are the Most Beautiful Creatures On Earth, so obviously everyone should adore their little painted images, I mean look at her belly button is that not the most adorable thing you've ever seen, but.... I am just in love with this painting.
And when you feel like that, you're REALLY supposed to wait a few days before you show it to anyone because the in-love-ness is most likely blinding you to the painting itself, but I'm living on the edge, and sharing it anyways.

One of my favorite vendors at the farmers market had one of those little green cardboard boxes full of.... something. Persimmons, but not like any I'd seen before, they were little and soft, with a lovely velvety surface that seemed to hold the light underneath it.

So I just HAD to have them, of course.

And now you can see why. Isn't it just the prettiest thing?

Found this lovely shiny ball behind the couch where the Little One had hidden it, and had to paint it right away! Shiny things are so much fun to paint.

In case you're wondering.... you can see two doors and doorknobs in the ball, and my yoga-pant-clad-legs and one hand.... the jar that holds my paint brushes, the computer screen and tower, and some light coming in through an obscured window. Hm. And a mechanical pencil.
