Same as yesterday with the finished, not finished, finished again and much better now thing.... it'll be the same again tomorrow, I believe :) This one it was mostly the background that got reworked- you can really feel the light on it now, so that sensation is a lot stronger for the whole piece!

Something that was finished, and then wasn't anymore, and now is- I refined the skull further, made it 'glow' a bit more, and added some character to the glass. I really like the overall kind of pyramid composition, though :)

Something else Nugget brought to me yesterday while I was puzzling over what to paint... how did my 21 month old angel get ahold of scissors, you ask? It's because she moonlights as a tiny monkey- always climbing, and full of mischief. Also, more than capable of dragging a chair across the house in order to reach something that looks interesting.

Three gorgeous blueberries that we picked ourselves from a local organic farm (Nice Berries Farm in Cedar Grove)... three out of the fifteen pounds or so we brought home. I think Nugget and I might actually turn into blueberries!
She is twenty one months old today, by the way... time goes by so fast.

Dandelion and Storm

I think this eye-level still life thing might be a good way to bring in my love of painting skyscapes... the trickiest part is getting the light to feel right, you know? And making sure the sky doesn't compete with the intended center of interest. It's always something :)

I'm so tickled with this one! About halfway through it I got to thinking that I might have seen a Duane Keiser piece that was uncomfortably similar to what I was doing, but after I got done I looked and I swear I couldn't find it... I hope I'm not infringing. Or maybe I just imagined it. Either way, it excited me to try and paint something so flat, laying flat on a flat surface, and still give it some depth :)
