I love the beautiful swirls inside the marbles..... although I guess the magic for me really is in the roundness of them, and the beautiful things they do with light because they're these wonderful spheres of glass.

Pale Hen

Sliced Orange

Skull and Spheres
Some more "smooky"ness! I'm experimenting with new light sources here with some LED spheres, and my beloved go-to still life painting props- skulls and marbles. This painting went straight up on the dining room wall after being finished!

Shadows II
I keep trying and trying to figure out how to imagine light into a painting instead of just painting what is there, how to create a glow on things that might not normally glow.
Like deer, for instance. Not normally glow-ers.

Dreadlocks
My daughter has a friend with magical hair. The first time I tried painting it I couldn't even bring myself to share the result, and you know me, I will almost always share my failures...
*sigh*
But this came out much better! Now I'm just not sure if I should approach this as a painting to be finished, or a finished piece all on its own. Maybe a prepatory sketch.
