There's this cool little farmhouse, very near the house I grew up in- I can't count the number of times I've driven past it, often thinking it'd be fun to paint.... well last night I found it absolutely irresistible :)

Denim is getting to be more and more fun to paint! Well, initially it was just driving me bonkers, so the fact that it is ANY fun to paint now is a vast improvement.... turns out the main problem was me making the colors too saturated. And I was afraid of overworking so I wasn't putting down *quite* enough layers.

I seem to have quit censoring myself- if an idea asserts itself, don't you think it deserves to be explored? Even if- or especially if- it's strange and tricky to pull off, like this one :) There was a large raven in the parade at the Eno, and I guess that was the jumping-off point for this sketch. I just love how it came together!

So strange.... there's a parade every year at the Festival for the Eno, and one of the giant.... um.... puppets inspired this. The white background is pure white canvas, something I don't believe I've ever tried before!

Either way, I decided to rework this one.... the background is the biggest change, but I also did a lot of playing with her skin tones, and I really love the sparkles falling away behind her.

It has been a long, long, long day..... a good one, but no time at all to paint. So I touched up an older daily (changed the background and shadows to warmer neutrals and softened the edges, punched up the colors on the apricots themselves) for you :)

Red Shorts Red Rose here is a fun little daily inspired by someone who visited my tent at the Eno, and Squirrel Mask, which I wanted to share with you yesterday, is inspired by one of the people in the parade at the Eno.... just awesome inspirations everywhere.

Which I'm grateful for, because this has been the chilliest, rainiest summer ever. Kinda going crazy over here :-/
