Got these be-e-a-utiful peonies at the farmer's market on Saturday, and the whole apartment smells of them right now. It's funny, because I usually would have gone with white ones with the getting-flowers-to-paint thing, but I fell into temptation with these glorious, overabundant violet-red beauties, and I love how it turned out with this painting, how these seem to fly above all that dense foilage, the heavy glass of the vase, the fragile tracery of the shadows..... seeing so much tonight, and it's nice.
