Cicada Husk

sold

This is why I do daily paintings. So when I pick up a cicada husk and realize it is probably the last one I will find this year, I have a most excellent reason to bring it inside and paint it.

My daughter found this shell, which had broken off from an oyster bed. The underlying shell is an incredibly fragile, iridescent one and it had been completely covered in baby oysters before being dislodged by the storm and brought up to the beach. The patterns are wonderful.
