it’s funny, but how I feel about a painting is absolutely no indication for how it will be received…. I’m in love with this one though. the crazy challenge of painting her face all in shadow, but her hands are all brightly lit and folded in front of her like that and the hyacinths in her hair….

I REALLY had to flex some mental muscles on this one- some paintings just fall off the brush, and this one flatly refused. I think it's a daffodil thing. I love them, but they don't feel the same way about me.

Also, making props for paintings is super fun, and I really love this ruff. Having a real one is so much better than trying to imagine the stinking thing. On the other hand, I think I'll go on a daily paintings kick for a few days after this, these were a bit overwhelming!

It's Naomi again! I finally finished the ruff I was making, just for the purpose of sticking it on her and painting her, crazy hair and all. Just sketching here, getting used to the new subject and the crazy lighting I wound up with.... so dramatic and awesome.
