Halved Strawberry

I thought this would be a wonderful easy one to paint, like the other strawberry... not so much. Which is why it's getting posted now and not the day after the last one :) I still want to explore the idea further, though!

Two Olives

Two little olives.... if I had any booze in the house, they'd go in a martini to celebrate me turning twentynine today. But alas, there is no booze, so I'll just make do with the olives!

Little Marble

Allright, I think I'll leave this one smaller than the others... just because the original is so stinking tiny. Sometimes I do love these little bitty canvases :)

Garlic on White

I'm loving this extra large image thing, lol.... This is an odd one. I did a solid coat of dark grey, and then picked the garlic out with translucent layers of white.

Lemon Slice

Huh. I just accidentally discovered that the new blogger system loads pictures automatically to 'medium' size, instead of 'large' like I had it set to before.... We'll have to see how this looks :)
And how is it possible that it is Christmas Eve already?!? And this is such a summery painting... well, not the subject. but the colors, yes. I think the little drops of lemon juice are my favorite part!

Lady Apple

This is a reworking of an older daily painting.... and I love how it came out :) Of course, the model is probably the main reason- lady apples have got to be the cutest fruits ever!

And back to my dailies for a little while. The weather has been so nice and mild lately that I actually got to paint this from life! It still make me think of summer, though :)

Cow and Cloud

And another cow. I liked the idea of painting one against the sky like this, you know?

After all the over-thinking yesterday I wanted to do something simpler today, though I'm not sure I accomplished that. This painting is taken directly from a photo I took, the same crop and everything, in an effort to figure out why I was so attracted to the photo. Unfortunately I don't have those answers, though I did enjoy painting it :)

Cherry and Reflection

This one I did wet-in-wet... something I never do. While I was painting that was driving me absolutely insane, but once it was done I really liked how it turned out, so I'm conflicted about painting like this more often. In part because there's no knowing how much of what I like is from painting wet in wet, and how much is from really focusing on making the cherry glow....
No, that's not true. I completely coated the canvas with black, and brought the cherry out of it. That's got to be why the edges came out so right, and perhaps why the light feels so strong- because with the highlighted side and the reflected light I was builing up toward the light the whole time, so it was really the focus of the whole process. Am I making any sense?

Out of the Vault

The Naked Lemon
Broken Shell and Golden Mean
I was looking at these two paintings today.... I think they're two of the most beautiful pieces I've ever done, and I'm not sure why they never sold! So hey, I figured I'd list them tonight- just in case someone wants to get them for Christmas :)
They are both 9"x12" acrylic on panel, and I listed them in my etsy store- here-

We got our tree decorated today! Yay!
Also sharing a work in progress.... working title "The Edge of the World". Mama says it makes her worried about the sup falling over the edge, but I think I kindof like that.

Trying to decide if this bit of gorgeousness is done or not... which means it's probably not. But almost.

Little Flip Flop

Ok, I know this isn't seasonally appropriate in the slightest... but hey, it makes me happy. Besides, I wear flips flops all year long, even if I don't let my daughter do it yet :)

Field of Gold

I think I might experiment with this one on a larger scale.... after the holidays, though. Things are crazy right now. And the baby is sick, poor thing :(

This is a sad painting, but I do love how it turned out.... the textures especially. And the way I was able to show the transparancy of some of the feathers, and the fact that it really is my backyard in the background of the painting :)

Cow on Green

Cows are really kind of cool looking, aren't they? They look less goofy than horses do while grazing... though much more goofy the rest of the time, so I guess it works out. lol...

On Saturday I had to do a lot of driving, and since Naomi was staying with my Mama- like every Saturday, they love each other so much it's adorable- so I stopped a bunch of times and got lots of pictures of horses, and cows. And turkey vultures. Thankfully no one came out to run me off their property, wandering around with the cows and horses in my flip flops in December... it was fun :) Anyways, this is from one of those reference pictures!

Sunday, December 4, 2011

The working title right now is "Stilled".... the stupid cat either killed the poor bird or found it already half dead and started playing with it :(

Pink Lilies

I had fun reworking this one- making one of the flowers and the buds kind of recede into the background, and then bringing the one forward and really making it glow... does it feel Christmas-ey to you at all?

How on earth is it December already? And why am I painting the ocean in December? Guess I'm just looking forward to summertime :)
