Bright and sculptural. I saw him in the evening, and it was wonderful to me how he decided I wasn't a threat and turned to the side like this.

Hummingbird in the Light

Darling little hummingbird, from having coffee on the back porch this morning..... her feathers glittering like tiny scales, tail spread out in a territorial display, and my trying to figure out how on earth to paint wings that aren't even visible because of how quickly they move.

Shallow Water

When the tide goes way, way out sometimes there's low spots on the beach and they fill with warm, flowing water. I call them tide pools, but I suspect that is just because I've only ever been to beaches here in the southeast. When I was a child I loved playing in them, and now my daughter loves playing in them too.
