Blues and greens and transparency at night.
small studies by Kellie Marian Hill
I loved this one so much it just got a tiny rework and popped back into the shop.
When you tell yourself you're not allowed to paint the skull at all, only the light on it.
I'm loving really focusing on the brushstrokes, and the brightness that brings to everything.
A very springtime little moment, one of those beautiful ephemerals that blooms almost the moment they are out of the ground, the petals peeking out from the tight wrapping of the leaves.
A tiny crab signaling against a field of blue, with the arc of one big beautiful claw.
A small moment on the surface of the water, rich greens on the golds and blues.
Springtime is so absolutely magical. So much potential everywhere, so much bursting life. And in this case, so many wonderfully, comically oversized bursting-with-promise peony buds.
Reworking is always a good thing. Especially when you've been out of ultramarine for a while and you just got a shiny new tube in!
Strange things moving in the night. On my bookcase. In an old tequila bottle.
